When she turns 18 I'd hit it. She goes to school in the OC which isn't that far.

Rebecca Black really isn't the problem. She's a less than talented performer that used someone else's studio magic to make a piss poor song. The problem is with Ark Music Factory and other so called producers that use Pro Tools and auto tune to manufacture music. It cheapens it and makes it a product with no value. No one will talk about her as bringing anything significant to the table. She'll just be a snippet on some Vh1 one hit wonder special

Rebecca Black just proves my theory about modern music. Anybody can become a pop singer today thanks to Autotune. You just need to be good looking, and even then we've got Photoshop and After Effects to fix you up.

Everybody please stop calling these people "recording artists", because they're not. John Coltrane was an artist. The Beatles were artists. Muddy Waters was an artist. Ke$ha is not an artist, nor is Lady Gaga, or Justin Beiber. They're hacks that make a lot of money while contributing nothing worthwhile.

So Lady Gaga writing all her own music and singing it all herself is not an artist??? I didn't know someone had to play an instrument to be considered an artist.

I take offense to your comments dear sir. Each decade had its own brand of music. You had rock in the 60s, punk in the 70s, new wave in the 80s, grunge in the 90s, who knows what in the 00s and now we have the decade of Autotune. JB, LG and RB are the defining leaders of this movement along with TP. In fact, this whole movement is wrapped in TP!

did anyone appreciate the lulz when miley said (with regard to rebecca black) that "it should be harder to become an artist".

Yes it should miley, yes it should.

 Lady Gaga is one of the most talented people in the world.

Yes, she does go over the top a little bit but musically she is outstanding.

I guess Miley thinks she's an artist herself. She's actually just a performer.

Rebecca Black does not prove your point at all. She paid for a "music package" where she picked out a song and they filmed a music video for her. It was recognized that she was not a good singer and then roundly ridiculed on the internet. The company offered to take down the youtube video but she refused and now she says shes donating any money she makes from this to charity. Good for her i say

I can't speak for Kesha but if you look at lady gaga or justin bieber before they were famous, theyre actually incredibly talented singers and musicians.

Plus I hate the retrospective comparisons of the greatest musical talents of each decade to the popular music of today. That's simply not fair. There were plenty of shitastic music being bad in every decade and most of them faded to obscurity (as they rightfully should). To compare the unfiltered barrage of music now to what has stood the test of time is being disingenuous.

You ever heard of KPop? From what I understand, companies will manufacture boy bands and promote them everywhere, in turn to promote their own products. They are incredibly "girls screaming, crying, passing out" popular there, and are not looked down upon for being a manufactured boy band. Like this Black girl taken to the extreme.
