Alright well back in January I bought 2 Spectek 256MB Ram Sticks (They were swapped out) from office max's special so that I only get them for $20 each. Well I waited nicely and come to find out 6 weeks later that I have not heard from Office max or Kingston. Then finally I got a $10 check in the mail, that's only after I emailed them telling them that I had purchased 2 sticks not 1, it was on there rebate web site which I lost the link to. So I looked on there and well the first one had been cancelled since it was'nt there ram but it was office max's special but I did get 1 $10 check (was suppose to get 2 $10 checks). Now from Office max I have no received a single thing from them.

Here are my quetions:

- What is Kingston's REABATE website, not there main one.
- What is Office Max's and Kingston's phone numbers?

It's only $40 but money is VERY tight and I need it. I am going to do everyhitng in this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=1313192&enterthread=y
if they say no.

If you can help me that would be great! Here is how the transaction was suppose to happen:

Purchased from Office max for $79.15
2 rebates form Office max for $15 were suppose to come
2 $10 rebates from Kingston were suppose to come (only 1 came)

There was a $45 instant rebate but still.

- Thanks!

Rebates are a crapshoot unless you are a freak and stay on top of them like a fly on shyt. I hope you get yours, but don't be surprised if you don't.

I suggest if you are in the area of Officemax, you go down there and talk to a manager about the rebates, and without being a jerk (because I'm sure none of this is his fault) you should request that he finds the number and calls them right there, with you standing by to ask why they haven't been sent.

As for the Kingston... well.. there may have been a clause that says only one rebate per household.. so you might be out of luck there... but call anyway. If they give you some BS... tell them you would like a copy of the rebate qualifications mailed to you so you can verify that... things like that. If you get on them about it, they are likely to just give up and send you a check.

I'll warn you though that some of these ideas might really piss some people off, but hey, they shouldn't offer the rebate if they aren't going to fill it.

I acully i read that before I sent them out and kingston had no problem with sending more rebate per household, but officemax did but I put it under my brothers name, but I have not heard a thing from them.

Keep track of EVERYTHING. I keep a text file on my desktop with the rebate information... and when I should expect to recieve them.

Also, MAKE COPIES.

OfficeFraud is notorious for not honoring rebates as of the past year. So much so that they have discontinued much of their rebate offerings, probably to avoid a real investigation being brought against them.

I just wanted to tell everyone that kingston just emailed me and told me that they will fix the error but still nothing from office max. I thought it was pretty funny when Office max sends my dad a check from a rebate he bought 6 weeks ago =/

When doing rebates, use [Rebate! Rebate!]http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,8341,00.asp[/L] to keep track of them. Patience pays off too. Some rebates say allow 6-8 weeks (or a set time span), but I don't complain when they don't come after 8 weeks. A few take another week or two to arrive. But after 2 more weeks have elapsed from the window, it's best to call them up and ask. Most rebates are very legitimate and do come back (though some may be pretty slow). Only a few (I/O Magic maybe one) are deliberately fraudulent.

And yes, on my records, www.rebatestatus.com handles Kingston manufacturer rebates.

Always call. Make sure that your info is 100% correct- I was dealing with a rebate from Syntax a few days ago, I guy searched for my entry and said 'sorry, sometimes mail gets lost.' I had him keep searching- he eventually did find my record, spelled very wrong- I swear, they have the people doing data entry on mail in rebates misspell stuff so that checks get returned by the USPS and they can keep some money.

Dude, this is the US of A. These big companies don't get anything done right. Shoot for rebates only if you've got enough to lose. Otherwise, don't expect anything.
