I just got mine at the Roseville, MN Best Buy. Had no problems. Bought it for the full $79.99 plus tax and got the rebate printout. Then I went to my car and got the Office Max flyer, went back in and asked customer service to pricematch the advertised Office Max price of $49.99. She pricematched 110% to $46.99 and that was that.

I came back home, set it up and it charged while I ate dinner. I'm using it now, and it's really nice. Definitely feels and works a little different than my intellimouse explorer 3, but I do like it. Seems to respond quite a bit quicker than the M$ wireless, but the buttons aren't as configureable with the logitech driver (can't assign keystrokes to buttons). Still, I highly recommend picking one up!

W00T!
Finally got mine today.
The BB I went to had 3 or 4 of them, but they took down the rebate tag on the shelf. I went to the cashier and asked her if there was a rebate still available for this. She had 3 choices and I asked for the $30 one. There it was, so I bought it. Went across the street to Kinko's, made some copies of everything just in case; then back to BB with my OM ad in hand. No problems! Got my $33 + tax back for the 110% PM.

Thanks to codey for givin us the heads up! I thought all the FW'ers would have them gone by now.

Had to chime in my thanks for this post. :)

I purchased full price, $30 receipt printed out, drove to OM down the road, took a flyer (they were actually out of MX700's), drove back to BB, pricematched + 10%.

The only trouble I had was with the annoying guy at the checkout going in DETAIL about the extra warranty for $10. It's so annoying when they do that. I just sit there and let them go on while I just think to myself "still not gonna get it!" and then picture Homer saying "Extended Warranty! How could I lose!?"

So have we come up with what exactly needs to be sent it for the rebate. I as well as many others, got the original reciept(now stapled to the yellow pricematch reciept, and has PM 3/3/03 wrote on it) a rebate reciept for the original purchase price and the rebate form. So which reciept do I send?

Just wanted to say thanks once again ATers.
Picked one up from the Raleigh BB, no problem. At least 4 or 5 on the shelves. Even OM had a few in stock.

Picked up the OM flyer first from next door.
Bought the mouse with the BB card. Got the same spiel about the $10 warranty(must be corporate).
Went back to the car, listened to NPR for a bit.
Back inside to CSR, showed her the ad.
110% PM, refunded $35 to the card, absolutely no problem.
Tomorrow I make copies and mail that puppy out!

Ahhhhhh. (contented sigh of relief)
I bought the Logitech dual optical just a few months ago when the price dropped because of the MX500/700 release.
I've been waiting for the perfect HOT DEAL to pick up the MX700 after I'd heard about how good it was.
$20 for an $85 cordless optical mouse absolutely rocks.

Surprised nobody had to go through what I had to. I went to BB on Monday with OM in hand. Waited forever for someone from the computer dept. to help me. Finally got someone to help me, showed him the ad which he said he had to get a manager signature. Twenty min. later he came back and said they wouldnt price match because OM has their price with a rebate also. I looked at the ad then showed the employee it. Nothing in the ad showed "with rebate". He agreed with me but said it was the manager who would not approve the pricematch. I drove back to OM and looked at the mouse on the shelve and sure enough it showed $79.99 - $30.00 instant rebate at the register. It doesnt show it in the ad as being "with rebate" but in the OM store it does. Just a shame my BB called to verify. Hot deals for those who got it.

BBQ, I was just about to post surprise that no one yet came accross what you did: None of the stores are supposed to pricematch before rebate prices.
But if you feel lucky...

Anyway, to those who bought this mouse:

Yeah like the guy said earlier in the thread but now here's a link to make it easier:

Click here to write a one sentence message to Tech Support asking for Logitech programmers to write drivers to allow us to custumize program specific buttons,

like the ones those monopolists in Redmond wrote.

I am sorry to see you did not get in on this deal, but I think you made an error in talking to someone in the computer department about getting a price match. Requesting a price match there was bound to raise red flag with them for they are probably aware of the $30 rebate. Your best bet would have been making a purchase at one of the front registers and then head over to customer service desk and request your price match there, where it is likely that some 19 year old chick is going to be clueless about the rebates available in the computer department and will do your price match without any hassle. That's how I got mine.

A friend and I both headed to BB in Traverse City MI tonight and picked one up each, but they scared the crap out of us when it was really busy at the front registers and they waived us over to the service desk to get checked out. But luckily when we got back from OfficeMax with the flyer, it was a different girl at the desk. :) $47 out the door after PM, and the rebate receipt and rebate printout. Thanks for the great deal guys! The mouse is really great! Specially for less than $20!

btw, for you Q3A guys out there...check out TechZone's review to see how to fix the scroll wheel. It's just a simple setting change in the control panel. http://www.thetechzone.com/display.php?i=138&p=3

Quick question.. has anyone tried to charge regular rechargable batteries in this thing? It seems to charge pretty quickly with the provided batteries...

went to the local BBs, even called before leaving to confirm that they got the mouse in stock, but after 30 min drive (traffic hour), the guy told me they are OOS, i told him i called 30 min ago to confirm and the person on the phone told me there's 10 mice available at this location, the guy checked the computer, and showed nothing :( then went to another BB, they got 5 or 6, got one, go to the register, the lady told me oh Fry's have a special going for 49.99, and she won't check out for me, after got sent to the customer service, the CSR told me there ain't gonna be a $30 rebate!! since I got the PM. even worse, the manager won't let me use the $10off$50 GC! :( have to wait for another BB to get more mice and try this deal.

You went about it all wrong. You should have never mentioned a PM or GC before you bought it. You must buy it, then go back later and get a PM. In your case, go back and buy it from the store that had it in stock, then go to the BB that didnt have it in stock and PM it there.

Whoohoo got in on the deal. Went back to the same BB grab a MX700 took it to the casiher she said I had to take it to the dept. I got it from. Im thinking oh great here I go again. So I tried to be sneaky and just goto customer service, same thing, she told me take it to the computer dept. I did, the clerk took it and brought it back with a slip for me to take to the casiher. Even told me he was going to get when he got off work that it was a better deal than his discount. Odd how the same store turns me down then the next day no problem at all. Im just glad I got in on the deal. Thanks all.

Question for send mailing rebate:

It is said that we need to send both receipts (original and price match) to get the rebate. The question is what is I send in rebate form before I do the price match? I have to send it again? Actually I have not send the rebate out. I just want to know what if I only send in the original receipt. Will that be fine?

Thanks a lot.

Don't these batteries have just a limited amount of charges in them? The mouse seems to "turn off" if not moving - I would not put it in the charger every night - maybe once a week then?

The mouse never really turns off, it only slows down its sampling rate some (not a lot), so its not as power efficent as it could be.

As for the batteries having limited charges, yes thats true but I've still got 6 spare 1800 mah AAs sitting in a drawer from that rechargeable deal awhile back. I'd rather have to use 2 of them after 1.5-2 years of mouse use than worry about whether or not the batteries are charged. Plus this way I don't have to worry about one of my cats knocking the mouse off my desk and breaking it.

I was perhaps the person (in this thread) who raised the issue about BB rejecting rebates on items which have been returned. Others have stated that they've submitted their ORIGINAL REBATE RECEIPTS (from their ORIGINAL PURCHASES) on purchases they subsequently PM'd. That then may mean that BB doesn't consider the "returned item" on the Yellow PM receipt to be a true return (and as such hopefully won't get rejected by the BB the rebate center).

I finally decided for my MIR to do the following:
Send in the REBATE FORM w/ the ORIGINAL REBATE RECEIPT (showing a purchase price of $79.99) & UPC CODE, period.

If BB should send me a REJECTION LETTER indicating that the item has been returned, I'll have legitimate grounds to dispute the rebate rejection. IIRC, they provide a phone # to their rebate center in their rejection letters.

NOTE: On past occassions, BB has sent me REBATE REJECTION LETTERS when I've genuinely returned items to BB (items I purchased elsewhere on-line cheaper than BB). In those cases they were legitimate rebate rejections, so I didn't dispute them.
