SUCCESS! - Well, maybe.... I was able to PM OMAX at the CS desk after buying it full price at the cashier. But, my new receipt is a large yellow carbon paper type deal and no new rebate form printed out. On one hand, that's probably how I got this to work, on the other hand, I wonder if BB will accept my rebate submission since the "val #" (validation number?) is different on the rebate form and my new receipt. Has anyone had this happen before? Will BB still accept the rebate form from the "before PM" purchase? BTW, thanks for the encouragement to give this a try after my previous failures.

It has been my experience with best buy that a copy of your original reciept is printed out with the rebate form. Just use that one.

Got one. Sweet deal. Easiest pricematch I ever did. I bought the mouse, walked out, walked backed in, went to the customer service desk, showed them the OfficeMax flier, and 20 seconds later I was done. Thanks for the deal.

The CSR wrote on it. I'll scan it in tonight.

So is it better to hook this up to a USB port instead of the Ps2 or does it make no differance?

I just came back from my Best Buy trip. I first went to the one in Westbury, NY and bought two of them. They had about 4 left (not including the 2 I took).

Then I went to the one in Rego Park, NY with the Office Max ad and had them 110% PM it at the service desk. I had to goto the Rego Park BB for something else anyway. Also, they had about 5 left in that store.

If you do PM at another BB location, you might need to bring the product (leave out the rebate receipts of course), because the purchase receipt just says "Logitech Mouse", so they need to confirm that you bought the MX700 in the Office Max ad.

Oh yeah, and they had the $30 rebate.

No what i am saying is, when I piad for the mouse it printed out a regular old reciept, then the rebate form, then another smaller reciept called a rebate reciept, all is has in is the best buy info, the date and time, the name of the product and the price, it doesn't have tax added or nothing like your change or anything. It is specifically for use with the rebate, they should have only taken the first reciept from you.

Also could someone that has been using this mouse for a while please post what we need to do in order to make this mouse work properly. I have heard of only a few porblems with it, that can be fixed by updating software and changing some settings, just wondering what needs to be done, should i install the software that came with the mouse or not?

what does a guy do if he doesn't have an OM flyer? Is the price listed on the OM website somewhere?

You can view the OM flyer on their website:

From the OM homepage, click on "weekly in-store specials"
Then choose your state
Then choose your store
Then you should see the ads. Clicking on them will enlarge.

Here's is the link to the image I got when I entered my store (Elmont, NY)

I've never attempted a post-purchase PM at BB before so I don' t know exactly what BB does; however, this much I do know:

I once purchased stuff at BB (containing BB MIR offers -- rebates sent to Calais, ME) which I subsequently found significantly cheaper at a no-name web-site. Before I received my items from the no-name web-site, I sent in my BB MIRs. When the items arrived from the no-name web-site, I took them to my local BB (w/ my BB receipt) and returned them. The refund went through without a hitch.

A few weeks later I received rebate rejection letters from the BB Rebate Center claiming (in each letter) that the item I purchased had been RETURNED. Since this was indeed true, I couldn't dispute the claim.

My point? If/when you do a BB PM, if they do it in such a way that the ORIGINAL PURCHASE GETS REFUNDED followed by a NEW PURCHASE AT THE PM'd amount, then mailing in your rebate form w/ your ORIGINAL REBATE RECEIPT may cause your MIR to be rejected! If anything, when you get issued a new PM "YELLOW RECEIPT," if you don't receive a "YELLOW REBATE RECEIPT" from the PM, I highly recommend you send in a XEROX of the "YELLOW RECEIPT" w/ whatever REBATE FORM you submit.

Just my 2¢ worth.

My question about the yellow receipt.

I bought 2 of the MX700, (one for my brother), and I paid cash for the extra one, so I could send the rebate to his place (since I assume it's only 1 per household). But on the Yellow receipts, they both have my contact information. Does that mean that they will only honor 1 rebate, cause that sux. I would put his address on the rebate form, but then if the yellow receipt has my info and address, will it not go through, since my info & address will also be on my rebate?

Wee, got mine. 35.19$ - 30$ mail in rebate = $5.19. Only thing is I need to figure out what exactly to send to get the rebate. I have the rebate form, the rebate receipt, the sale receipt, and the price match receipt. The rebate form says to send a copy of the receipt. But which receipt? The rebate receipt I would think. But this one does not have the same price as the price match final receipt. I guess it depends if the price match counts as a return or not?

I dont have any yellow receipt.

Great mouse, awesome deal.

I've done quite well on BB rebates this past holiday season, unlike previous ones.

Got my M$ SW FF2 $50 rebate and a $40 rebate on a Motorola SB 4200 in about 1 1/2 mos.

I was like hey, wasn't that a rebate form for me... and they proceeded to tell me how you couldn't get a rebate when you PM...

so go back and tell them you need to reprint the rebate receipt...you can go to any dept with a register and do it. your best bet would be the computer department though. just walk in, give them the sku, and they will reprint the rebate form ;) just make a xerox copy of your receipt, send it in, and voila...your set :)

I just got one, I used the coupon to get the free $10 gc, and bought it straight up for the original cost. Got the rebate receipt and took em to my car. Came back in with the receipt and ad, asked for a pm. They said ok but we have to take the GC back, we can't pm and allow the use of the coupon. I figured that was pretty stupid, but what could I do? So I lost the coupon (they didn't give it back) but got the mouse for ~$20 AR and BT. Its charging right now and looks very sweet. :)

I just hopped on this deal as well! Awesome price for what looks like it will be a truly awesome mouse!

Much thanks to the original poster, and much thanks to the store manager who smiled at me and refunded my dough. I didn't even walk out of the store, I just paid for it then walked over to customer service, showed them a printout of the ad, and got my refund.

Suh-weet!
