Reasonable OC expectations?

I'm an ABit loyalist, and with rev 2.0 of the NF7-S board, I can finally say it's time to upgrade my KT7-RAID. With NewEgg's deals on 1700 CPU's, and their decent price on the NF7-S, it was a no-brainer purchase. Managed to get the NF7-S, XP 1700+, a Vantec Aeroflow, some Kingston PC2700 RAM, and a CPU shim for $270 shipped. Not too shabby...

Now, I wouldn't really mind if I have to run at stock speeds, but if I can get a little O/C out of this sytem, it'd be nice. The RAM might be the weak link in my current setup, but for now, this is all I could afford...

So, assuming my peripherals, drives, etc. are happy overclocking, where should I set my expectations for overclocking this system? The power supply should be fine. I hear NewEgg has been shipping B core TBred 1700's lately... If I get those, can I expect to approach 2000XP+ speeds? Or am I going to have to set my sights lower?

you don't need to set it that low........expect it to hit 2400+ speeds(2GHz) easily with a little or none added voltage

I have to agree with bgeh. Start with a FSB of 166 and a multi of 12 for 2000 Mhz. Then just keep bumping em up. In your case I would set the ram timings high because additional speed will be more beneficial than lower timings.

Well, it is the value RAM. I didn't have the $ for HyperX, and some of newegg's reviews of the HyperX RAM referred to problems using HyperX in the NF7-S. It's only $25 more though, so maybe I should consider it if it'll make a big difference. What do you guys think?

Hey bgeh, your rig page doesn't indicate whether your Kingston PC2700 is value or HyperX... Which is it?
