Anyone play it yet? I never played the first Myst, but I fell in love with this game... The only thing I might not be enjoying is the walking around not knowing what to do next, but we shall see... What are your thoughts?

I haven't played this new version yet, but played a little of the original one, and hated it. I think I traded it to some poor chump at school for Need For Speed 1. Heh, suckers are born every minute....

hehe, myst is currently the best selling pc game of all time, with over 6 million units sold!!! looking at the box now... lol

I thought Myst sucked. The only part I liked was the Planetarium that could simulate night skies.

the people who say myst sucks are the people who couldn't beat the game without a game guide. myst was awesome...it makes you think. :Q

BTW, realMyst is a huge system hog - I d/led the demo and it was so choppy on my comp (voodoo3 3k, athlon 700, 128mb) that I couldn't enjoy the game.

Myst 3 is supposed to be comming out sometime soon. Thats gonna be awsome! You can actually look around in it, you're not stuck looking at slides. Its not like realMyst, its just panoramic renders instead of regular, so its more system-frendly

I love Myst and Riven. They were my 2 favorite games of all time. The puzzles in the game really make you think.

realMYST a great too, but its quite sluggish on my system (celeron 300a, 160mb pc100, 8mb voodoo 2)

Thats odd I never met someone who actually bought this game, maybe it was because of MAC'ers.

yeah, thanks for the link, davej. I've played myst and beat it without a guide, but couldn't for riven - that is a difficult game and it still remains to be finished.

btw, I read the myst book (Book of Atrus..I believe, the other is Book of Catherine) and it's 2/3 as good as the hobbit so that is still pretty damn good. read it sometimes; authors are randy and..something...miller (the two brothers who designed myst).

Here's the plan: I'll buy Exile and use it on my comp that I built. When the family wants to play(they liked Myst 1) they will find out their puny HP can't handle it, and BOOM! They hook me up with lotsa $$$ to build a cool new computer! hehe...

Don't laugh! I am a parent and begin all my upgrades just becuase of the rich graphics and game play of Riven. I have never looked back. Now that I know a DVD edition is coming out,my 10x siitting in the box at my feet will be installed in the last available bay in my game rig now. I'm jazzed about it and I'm 50 years old!

Myst + RealMyst + Riven are the best games of all time.

Don't even try to play RealMyst if you don't have a 600MHz machine and a decent AGP card.

It's a true test for your system.
