Really Weird Question.

Is there such a thing as two people, who arent related, at all, from two different sets of parents, totally different DNA, who look so much alike, that you would think them to be identical twins, even if they were standing right next to eachother?

A demo guy who's been in our store before said there's a guy in another store that looks like my twin..at first, he thought I actually was the other guy. 😕

I've had many people stop me and start talking to me as though I were someone else. One time the people refused to believe me when I told them that I wasn't the guy they thought I was. They were standing right in front of me asking me if I'm serious. I wanted to look for the guy but I couldn't find him. It's worth noting that I have that "generic white guy" look. I can walk through a crowd and nobody will be able to recall what I look like.

I definitely think it's possible and if your twin or twins are not alive today then someone who looked just like you could have lived 50, 100 or even a thousand years ago. I've always thought of this same question myself.

It must be true since two times I've had people insist I was someone else.

Once while waiting for my car to be fixed, the owner of the dealership walked right up to me and after calling me by the wrong name, asked why I didn't tell her I was bringing my car in. I explained she was mistaken and she seemed kind of stunned, insisting I was that person's twin.

Last Sunday I was waiting for an elevator at a hospital when a guy came up to me, stuck out his hand and said how glad he was to see me, and called me by the wrong name. When I explained, he said, "What? Are you sure you're not Mr. Jones?" Wasn't sure how to respond to that.

If search engine technology improves to the point where you can search for other images based on an image you provide, I think it would be a great idea to look for my clones and meet them somewhere.

I think it would be neat finding 10 or 20 people that look identical to me, then hang out with them. We could get out of all kinds of trouble and possibly rob banks. A few of us will do the mischief while the others stand around just looking like us. When we get caught the witnesses will not be able to identify who did it, and when they try they'll probably say "I can't tell- they all look the same to me". At that point we'd be able to play the race card and win the case.

Here are the steps:

1. Search for your clones and assemble them into a group
2. Rob banks and do other mischief
3. If caught, in court wait for witnesses to say "I couldn't tell- they all look the same to me"
4. Act offended and play race card.
5. Profit

that is my non-expert opinion derived through observation and not experimentation. i could make a website about it though if it would legitimize my claim.

please do i think we would all love to see it.

That doesnt mean that you were IDENTICLE to him, you could just look really similiar to him. i am talking that if you were staring at a picture of him, you would think that it was you and not someone else.

Are you talking about like facial recognition software, that government agencies along with police stations, use to identify suspects? or maybe you could use dmv computers. that might work. Any hackers around?

Facial Dyslexia! 😀 I think I have that condition where some people's facial features seem identical... and I can't seem to get their names right. 🙁

I was waiting in line to see Constantine last Friday and a guy caught my eyes. He looks very much like the actor who plays Data of STG :Q

I'll bet he caught your eyes - Brent Spiner is gay 😀

Also, Ray Bradbury wrote an odd short story about this - the protagonist is looking through a random old yearbook from another state half a century before and sees a picture of himself. He then goes out looking through yearbooks and discovers more pictures of himself, and multiple copies of other people.

Really? Any idea where i can read this story? and is the story supposed to be true?

For a celebrity version of this, some say that Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly look almost identical.

The short story is called "Nothing Changes" and it is fiction. I have it in my copy of "Driving Blind" which is a collection of some of his non-sci-fi short stories. It wasn't a fantastic piece of literature, but the premise was interesting.
