Hello...

I just got a GEFORCE 4 mx series... and for some reason it will only install on windows 95! I have tried installing it under Windows ME and XP on upgrade and full versions. When I do install it... the computer recognizes it but the OS will not load! And! If I try to upgrade from 95 to xp or ME.... It freezes during installation. Any suggestions? I have upgraded My mobo's bios and the agp drivers... :(

When does it freeze? Did you remove te old graphics drivers first? (+ What was the old card?)

Is it running on Standard PCI Adapter, Graphics Card Drivers or Detonator Drivers?

It could be trying to run on the old card drivers and getting confused?

http://www.guru3d.com get the detonater destroyer to make sure you delete all your current drivers , then install it as a vga card and install the OS and then install the new card, cause if you are installing a new os the drivers for the card would be for the old OS and won't work on your new OS.

Ok, right now I have a voodoo 3 2000 pci graphics card installed under windows XP. So I should remove everything that has to do with that card, turn off the computer, remove the voodoo card, and put in the geforce 4???

oh, and last time I tried installing it under windows xp, it showed the windows xp startup screen with the little bar very dim, and the bar did not move... I pressed "reset" and tried to run in safe mode. It wouldn't even run in safe mode!

yes, delete everying for your voodoo, go to start, contral panel then click add/remove programs and look to see if you have any voodoo drivers in there (its been so long i dunno if there in there) after you uninstall it, restart and let it be a vga card, then install your new OS when you do go ahead and keep using vga (i know its f00gly as hell) but just get on the net, get the newest drivers for your card for your new OS , after you get them, put in your geforce 4 and then install it with the drivers you downloaded. If that don't work try installing your new OS with the voodoo.
