I don't know but I found this and am profoundly disturbed by it:

Fistula: A tear in the birth canal that allows leakage from the bladder or rectum into the vagina, leaving a woman permanently incontinent, often leading to isolation and exclusion from the family and community.

I was so distubed I had to find out what treatment was availble... apparently it is most common in young girls and is usually the result of a stillbirth or other complication. I would imagine the rate of this happening in developed countries is pretty low due to caesareon's(sp)



Fistulae can be surgically repaired, however. Successful surgery requires a specially trained surgeon and support staff, access to an operating theatre and attentive post-operative care. Several specialized fistulae hospitals have provided excellent training to surgeons and nurses over the last few decades and have done a great deal to alleviate the suffering caused by fistulae. Success rates for primary surgical repair range from 88 to 93 per cent and decrease with each unsuccessful attempt.

djheater, thanks for the follow up, 83-93% is pretty good odds in my opinion, but not the 100% everyone would like to see. BTW, what is an "operating theatre?" Is this another way of saying "operating room?" 😕

Disturbing is an under statement. I got it off of The Leaning Channel.
It is far from being limited to the partners of pregnant women. It includes crime and random killings and killings by "friends". That is the weird part.

If anybody has any more info I would love to hear it.
 
i believe this was found in a study entitled "Enhanced Surveillance for Pregnancy-Associated Mortality".

pretty disturbing.
