Really strange situation with new CPU HS/F

Got myself a new case fan and a Rosewill RCX-Z775-SL because my old case fan was getting noisy and the stock cooler that came with my Q6600 kept getting to 80 C on mild usage.

So. This is a huge improvement. Hangs out at 40C idle (compared to 60 or so) and mid 50s under that same mild usage.

However. The fan doesn't work. It turns on right when I power on the pc, then it stops and twitches ocassionally. Now, I like the big improvement, but this feels wrong. Is there any way I can see if it is off because the cpu isn't getting to those higher temperatures? Or is it is broke, as one commentor on newegg noted "the fan was DOA".

Do a few LinX runs to heat up your cpu and see if the fan kicks on at higher temps.

If your fan is hooked up to the cpu fan header on MB it will be controlled by the MB. Check in your bios for fan options....Quick test is you could use an adapter and plug it into your power supply and see if it spins up.
