Really strange mouse problem

I've got a strange problem with my mouse - when I am logged in as admin it's fine, but when I'm logged in as a power user, the pointer moves two pixels at a time! Either vertically or horizontally, it's always two pixels. Makes image editing hell

I have Windows 2000 Pro SP2 and a Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse SE (800 DPI). My mouse drivers are Mouseware 9.41.1 and now 9.41.2. With the default windows drivers I know it moved two pixels as power user, but I didn't realise at the time it was different as admin - but it's not the 1 pixel at a time that I'm worried about ).

I should also have said that I'm double checked all mouse settings and they are the same - apart from sensitivity that needs to be lower as Power User. I put it up to the same amount as admin to test and it still moved 2 pixels at a time. So both sensitivity and movement is different, but the movement is the problem. Still, they could have connected reasons. Also, the admin sensitivity is the default, therefore as correct as any setting is. It might not be co-incidence that the user who installed the Mouseware has the right control.

Logitech Mouseware has always been, and still is, very buggy; especially when used with USB devices. I have 2 cordless/opticals and they both behave strangely at times. Sometimes, the mouse won't be detected at startup, or the wheel won't scroll in games, or the fourth button sends both the middle button command and the shift command (when set as shift) when I have my Microsoft Strategic Commander controller hooked up at the same time. Other problems I've noticed in the past include the inability to disable the systray mouse icon using the check box in the Mouseware driver.

What you could try, though, is to remove the Logitech driver and then let Windows redetect the mouse and install the Microsoft driver. I'm not sure how you'd do this in Win2K, but it would let you know if the problem is caused by the Logitech driver.

Yeah, just remove the Logitech drivers and use the windows default. That's what I've been doing with my Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse and it's working fine for me.

Thanks guys, but the default drivers do this too. Infact I installed the logitech drivers when I noticed the 2-pixel movement as a normal power. I install the mouseware as admin and the 2-pixel movement went away, I thought because of the drivers, but actually because I was logged in as admin :S
