REally slow internet....

Hey there. I'm not enteriley sure if this is the right section of the foums to post this in (if it is please move it) but I'm having some trouble with web browsing. Online games, chat programs, and dl's all work fine, but when I'm web browsing, I get like, about dial up speed page loading, and more then half of the time, the page times out, and get broken picture links (but there not really broken, just timed out). I am using Mozilla FireFox, I have cleared my cache, and I can't really think of anyhting else to do.... Help please! This is really annoying!!!

Edit: This has been happening for the past few days, and worked fine whenever I would disconnect and reconnect my modem. Then after a few minutes, would slow down again. Today, its been faster, but something goes really slow again, but still never really up to what it used to be/should be. Thanks for any help in advanced.

My sister had a very similar problem when she changed computers and it ended
up that she had to call her ISP and they walked her through a process
and everything was fine after that.

I think it had something to do with DNS or IP addresses that had to
be entered.

She was using DSL.

OP, do you get slow loading pages, or do you get pages that are blank for a long time (with a message like 'looking up foo.com' in the status bar) and then suddenly load at normal speed if they do show up?

If you do an ipconfig /all what do you get for dns servers? If you log in to your router, it should also be able to tell you what dns servers it's been told about. Do you notice a difference in the servers between when you have a good and slow connection?

Well I haven't really compared what speeds I got with 1 server compared to another... I have cable too. And they pages never really eventualy load, it would say looking for foo.com..... maybe load 1 thing or 2, and them time out.
