We are getting installed Imaging software in our department, and those people start complaining that they weren't able to load their programs because what we have in our pcs, so I was ordered to remove everything from them (including Seti), I was able to zip the WUs and save them, but I don't know what to do with them, because even if I unzipped them in my SQ or in SD I have to change the IP (to the one in my pc) and I dout it if that would work.

Any ideas are more than welcome.

PS. I will ask OD to pull me out of the race to 5000, since my regular output will be around 10/12 per day.

I lost another ship from the work fleet this morning.

New employee needed a PC. Sheesh, what's wrong with using paper and pencil?

Down to 12WUs a day at work, from a high of 36WUs. 🙁

Sorry to hear you lost your fleet...

Here's what I do to move w/u's back and forth between work:

I have a dir structure setup like this:

and I run this batch file to move the w/u's:


set START=1
set MAX=50
set QUEUE=7

for /l %%i in (%START%,1,%MAX%) do (
copy c:\work_seti\seti.exe c:\work_seti\%QUEUE%\%%i\seti.exe
cd\work_seti\%QUEUE%\%%i\
seti.exe -stop_after_xfer
del c:\work_seti\%QUEUE%\%%i\seti.exe
)



You'll have to modify the path to fit your needs but you get the idea, it increments i everytime it passes through the loop. You can get rid of all the queue stuff and just create a dir with subdirs 1-X and change the max to however many you have. It doesn't hurt to create two batch files and have one start halfway through and the other at the beginning to get it done quicker (assuming you have the bandwidth). Let me know if you need any help.
 
Soul, I will not have a need to move the WUs back and forth, what I did was I saved them from being deleted, I zipped each folder from the assimilated pcs and tomorrow I will take with me my external zip drive and put them altogeter in a zid disk. What I don't know is how to make my SD or my SQ to recognize the WUs that are from differents pcs and with differents IP address.

That sh!t pissed me off, the only thing that they needed to do was to shut down seti until that software was done. :disgust:

Eltano1, all you have to do is run SD and point it to the SQ, and SQ will just see them as returned results, and will accept them. It *may* leave some red "flowers" on your SQ, but if you are shutting the SQ down then it won't matter.

Is there any possibilty of reinstalling them but this time using SetiHide, which can be set to stop processing when certain programs are open (such as TaskMgr.exe or "C:\Program Files\ThisProgram\annoyingprogramthatscrewswithseti.exe"). That could well be another possibility and you can add any other programs that interfere into the file as well.

Understood, the method I gave you will do that.
 
Guys, by mistake I unzipped then in the same folder as my SD and it recognized them as finished wus, well at least I was be able to rescue some of the wus, tomorrow I will get the rest.
What I didn't know was that SD renumber the wus to be in sequence, I saying this because before unzipping I rename my own wus within the same forlder to avoid getting overwrite and when I realized my mistake of unzipping in the same folder what I have was more wus in sequence.Cool 🙂

Thanks Soul, it was my misunderstanding about your idea ( not only I'm still mad about this crap at work) but also I'm getting ready for a test tomorrow morning in front of 6 people (they call it a Panel), and my mind is all over the place. Wish me luck 🙂
