Really Picky Craigslist Landlord

one thing I can say for the guy/girl: I guarantee they get people in the building who live well together because of it. I'm sure as hell not going to try and live there.

Boston's North End, what can you do. If you get a 2 BR with a roommate you can live for $1k or so. It's a really fun area though, I'm hoping to move there for work soon.

I hear you. Prices are similar or higher for the nicer areas of San Diego too.

I'm lucky, we bought our house 10 years ago before real estate prices went crazy. 😉

I said WTF? I've heard of split box spring for a king sized mattress, but not a queen. Not that I'm an expert in bedding, but never heard of that one before. :hmm:
 
I would've been fine up until "foot traffic". I don't stomp but I would hate to have to tip toe around my place.
 
Kinda ridiculous that they require an insured mover to move your stuff in and that the landlord will check them out.
 
The 'MUST have INSURED MOVERS TO MOVE IN & OUT' part is unique. I haven't seen that before. Not going to be easy/cheap to move in and out, considering it's month to month rent and you could be kicked out the next month..

With all the details/text I'm surprised they didn't provide a floorplan and pics with the post.

And I've never seen a queen split box spring, only king. So I suppose it's twin/full or nothing?
 
It's even funnier if you read it with a thick Boston accent. I'm a 37-year old married professional, and I'd probably rather live in a tent than in a building with the person who wrote that ad.

Ah, the old nature vs nurture question. Hard to say, but I'm guessing it's due to being overcrowded over a few generations. Being a surly dickhead gets taught at an early age from all the adult examples the child has contact with.

Here in California it's so easy to pick out the people who were raised in that part of the country. They don't even have to tell me and they could of lost their accent from living here for awhile, but I can still tell this isn't where they were born.

I've seen insured movers required, but it's generally with new, high-end buildings. For the newer, expensive buildings (read, million dollar condos in a high rise so the whole place looks like a fancy hotel), they require those and putting down a moving deposit in case something gets damaged. In addition, they're really picky about needing to cover up the walls and floor so you don't unintentionally damage anything.

If it's a crappy, pre-war walkup, then it's stupid. I don't know what kind of building this guy is in, but maybe he just saw what the expensive places do and tried to apply it to his building.
