I know there are better forums for this, and I've posted in them, but there is so much more traffic here at ATOT I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm looking to buy a wireless vocal mic in the $300 range. I'm thinking about the Shure TV58D Vocal Wireless Microphone. Anyone have any experience with this bad boy? Or can anyone recommend something in a similar price range? Nady fans need not apply. ;)

Handheld or lavalier?

I have both. Shure are great mics. I have a shure Handheld mic. I think it was about $350. I'd post links to them both, but B&H Video's web site is down. The are in NYC. I'll post links when they come back online.

I'm looking at the handheld. It is a wireless version of a 58. Do you have the VHF version? I can get it for $300, but I'm a little worried about the range. The specs say 100 meters, the sales guy says 50 feet. I think he's just trying to upsell me though. . .

Well, the 100 meter range is likely given ideal circumstances. You could probably be safe saying 100 feet or so. 50 feet? yeah, probably an upsell attempt

Thanks, guys. I think I'm going to go get it after work. If it doesn't work, I can always take it back.
