well i dont know what happened but i think while my computer was still running someone unplugged my dell LCD monitor and plugged it into their own computer. this happened while i was out and when i got back to my computer and plugged my LCd monitor back into my computer it tells me "Cannot display video mode." Ok, so now i reboot my computer. The bootup screen is displayed, but when it starts to load up the desktop it tells me the same thing "Cannot display video mode."

I am running windows XP SP2 and have an onboard video card. does anyone know how i can fix this? i've already gone through my bios and the video is set the VGA.

Yeah, press F8 during startup and go into VGA mode or Safe Mode.

Maybe they set your computer's resolution higher than the LCD will display.

MAYBE they're secretly after your LCD, thinking that you'll assume the display is crapped out. 😉
