Really need suggestions on GOOD backup software

I have purchased a new backup system to replace my current outdated one, and the one piece left in the puzzle is deciding on a good backup software for a reasonable price.

I purchased a Quantum DLT VS160 tape drive, and here's a link to "compatible" software solutions: http://www.quantum.com/NR/rdonlyres/1B31B316-4488-40ED-8CF4-62644B53F3F5/0/quantumdltmatrixfinal.pdf

I'm sure there are others that are not on that list, but I've gone through and tried trials after trials. I seem to be stuck between getting something that is much more than I need and thus much more expensive than I'm willing to pay.

It will be a standalone machine backing up data/program files across the network on a couple file servers, and a few workstations.

If any of you can provide any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No offense intended but why would you spend a small fortune on good hardware and want to scrimp on the backup software? 😕

Good backup software is the difference between a successful restore and an "almost" successful restore. FWIW both Arcserve and Backup Exec have worked well for me in the past.

We use Stomp Backup MyPC here at work, and it works well and appears to have support for a wide range of hardware. Not sure as to the cost, but I don't think it's going to cost you an arm and a leg.
