With DOS, you need to load the mouse/cd-rom/sound drivers, disk cache, and memory manager in autoexec.bat and/or config.sys. files. It has been way too long for me to remember what those commands were, though.
Each driver entry can be a separate entry in CONFIG.SYS or by a .BAT file. The best thing you can do is get a copy of Steve Simrin's book, "MS DOS Bible" - published in 1985. Could be in your local library. It can give you all of the proper commands and syntax.
