I recently bought a lenovo laptop. It shipped out on the 19th and I still haven't received it. What's worse is that UPS tracking hasn't showed any updates since the 20th, as "import scan". Yesterday I called, they said that it just cleared customs but tracking still doesn't change. My question is, does the fact that the laptop pass customs mean that it probably isn't lost? UPS tells me to contact Lenovo so they can trace the package. Another possibility is that UPS just hasn't updated the information on the tracking yet? Will I be able to get a refund from Lenovo even though it has shipped? t

Could be worse. At one time I got a package shipped by USPS. I don't know if their tracking system is any better, at the time the didn't put ANYTHING on the tracking system until the package was delivered, then they put all the useless crap online to tell you where your package went (Like I care about that).

That was about 5 years ago, so it could be different.

but isn't tracking automatically updated when the code is scanned? which leads me to think that it might be lost. but i have read stories online where it never updates until it's actually delivered. can they give me a refund after it's been shipped if it is lost though?

No, it's not updated automatically. Some post offices have automated scanners but not very many.

It hasn't changed, I got package shipped UPS last week, no tracking up dates until the day it was delivered. OP, give it a few more days days and I bet it'll shows up.

EDIT: I noticed you stated USPS but it holds true for UPS in my experience.

Once I actually received that package but the tracking number still said "imported into post office" or something, I think it was USPS. I think the only time where tracking numbers were actually accurate was with fed ex and Canada Post.

I don't really like USPS, but you should realize that they don't actually offer tracking on most packages. Instead, they just have delivery confirmation.

If you bought it with a credit card, the credit card company offers some protection but they may charge you a $50 insurance fee.

I've seen this happen before.

You're package is gone - customs employee stole it.

You might get your money back after 6 - 12 months of paperwork with Customs, UPS, Lenovo, and your CC company.

Good luck, you'll need it.

if worse comes to worse i'll just tell lenovo to file an investigation with UPS and hopefully get a refund or another machine shipped. Just hope that Lenovo cooperates

My experience with UPS is that I tend to receive my shipment before they update their status. Give them some time before you freak.

I have never ordered something directly from overseas though.
