really dumb Blu ray question

Hi

I'm thinking of buying a Blu ray drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

I was wondering if I can expect it to work it to play Blu ray movies just like my DVD drive plays DVD movies. As in will the sound automatically go through my soundcard (Audigy 2ZS) and will the viedo automatically go through my videocard (GTX 460) and subsequently through my DVI-D cable to my monitor?

Some of the reviews were mentioning HDMI, but I'm guessing this is for HTPC builds that connect their computers to TVs? I just want to watch my Blu rays on my monitor.

Thanks

You're right - that's a dumb question.

Okay so it really isn't that bad.

Your monitor may have to support HDCP, as well as your video card. I'm not really sure though. Other than that, it's all digital so it should just go through the SATA cable.

"it to work it to play" haha oops

thanks for the advice. Both my 3007WFPHC and GTX 460 seem to support HDCP, thankfully

You need to make sure the Bluray drive comes with software, Currently Microsoft does not pay for the use of the codecs required to play a bluray movie (windows media player wont work)
