Souns like the new vid card may not have the right drivers, or rather XP Pro doesn't have the right drivers for it.

Go back and use the one that worked until you get the system up and running. Then change the video card and follow the install procedures. That usually involves removing the old one in Device Manager along with the drivers, shutting down, switching cards and rebooting. It should then go into the "found new hardware routine."

Assume you are using an AGP card. There are some that do not like to share IRQs with anything. Usually PCI slot 1 is shared with the AGP slot (intended for a PCI video card, so it is an either or arrangement.) If you have something else in PCI #1, try moving it to another slot.

Yeah....start from scratch and with a minimal install..............
Disable/remove all modems, nic's, sound cards and fancy screaming
vid cards. Just use the MB/CPU/memory/HD/and basic vid card.....
Once you get it up and running, then install the peripherals one at a
time............Greg

Nope. I only own that vid card,,, there is no other card to go back to. I tried installing with just the card in. Geforce3 Ti 500... it still stops at same point as before.

did you purchase the XP? Just to let you know...if you install XP 4 times within the year, the activation code will go bad. If you have the one floating around the internet, the only thing to do is get a different vid card like everyone is saying.

If you did purchase and have valid Activation...you should look into seeing if it's the activation code. I have never seen what happens...so I'm just guessing here

I own it. Even if it were a iso, just the fact that I totally formatted my hd, and fdisked it with /mbr. It would have no way of knowing it was ever on the PC.

I am thinking I may have damaged the cd itself, as it has a few scratches. I am going to try polishing it.

polishing complete.... I also went to frys and talked to them about it. Since I bought it there, and vid card. They told me to also try buying one of their cards ( a lesser card ) and try to seeif it will install with that if the polishing does not work. Fingers crossed. :)

Still a very strange problem...

It stops while in the DOS installation, just before it starts the main install part where it will ask you about where you want to install format etc.

The cd is fine. It works fine in another pc.

Soooo... looks like I have some trouble shooting to do. Got me what tho? IDE cables? I mean I have tried installing it with nothing more than just the vid card in it as it is, only other thing connected was cdrom drive ( I need that on lol )

Would appreciate ANY ideas at this point.

<< goes back to work. :(

Since you asked for ANY help, here it goes:
