Really cheap AMD motherboard...really cheap.

ok i need a REALLY cheap AMD motherboard that will be used for a 900mhz (maybe 1ghz) duron processor. The processor costs $35....i would like the motherboard to not be more expensive then that. I have NIC card and Sound card so i dont need that. USB and PS2 is all it relaly needs. I have a K7S5A and even thats too good for what im doing w/ this computer.

well refurb will actually be just fine....its upgrading a dying 700mhz slot A athlon. Its my familys computer, 700mhz is plenty fast, and 1.1ghz will be overkill. Email and websurfing and AIM is all they do. I think ill go w/ the refurb. (first i have to make my dad buy it)

Having seen plenty of what DIY attempts do to mainboards, I wouldn't go near a refurb board with a ten foot pointed stick. Remember, these boards have been returned by people who didn't manage to build a working system with them, for whatever reason. No thanks. Mainboards can be damaged in so many subtle ways, no refurb testing procedure will reveal them.

You didn't really say, but I assume the board needs to have slots for non-DDR memory? Get a K7S5A and call it done, or get a KM133 or KL133 board if you can find any (these have onboard video). I see mwave.com has the Biostar M7VKQ, and you can get it in a bundle with a Duron 900 and a heatsink/fan unit for $75 plus shipping. There's no AGP slot, so if that matters to you, get the KM266-based Biostar M7VIG, which costs a little more but has an AGP slot, onboard video, plus slots for both SDR and DDR memory.

I am selling my mobo and some other things you can check it out in the Tech Deals Forum...
