ok, i've been running seti@home for a while (as a part of team anandtech:D) and haven't really thought of trying to get it to perform quicker or anything, i just have it run on startup and let it do its thing, checking stats once in a while. now that i see my work unit totals increasing, i'm more interested in getting faster times. i just downloaded the command line client (i have been using the gui version) because it's supposed to be faster. are there any tweaks that can be made to this client? how do i set it up to run on startup and show me its progress? what is the deal with seti driver? how can i see the work unit times over the last X amount of workunits? i have a cable modem and the computer runs 24/7, how do i set it to automatically get a new wprk unit when it needs one?

as you can see, basic questions...but still unknown to me:confused:

Ick, get rid of that GUI! :)

SETI Driver

Most of the info you need is there. Check the "Create SETILog.csv" box to have it log the WU's. You can tell it to connect automatically. Just put a shortcut to SETI Driver in the StartUp folder, and it'll start when Windows starts. Go into the shortcut properties and tell it to start minimized too.

Then go into the properties for conagent.exe (I think it's in the Windows folder), and go to the misc. tab and tell it not to warn if still active. This way it won't yell at you to close the CLI when you reboot the computer.

okay... run setidriver from your seti directory. set it to cache about 3 days of WUs. that 1.5 athlon probably does ~15 in 3 days. in the setidriver window check hide processing and autotransmit. also, 1 instance unless you're running dual processors. tell it you have a proxy then put orangekid.teamanandtech.com and use port 5001. then check use setispy. drag a shortcut of it to the startup folder (start>programs>startup). run setispy in the seti directory as well. drag a shortcut of it to the startup folder too. theres some options in there to control the client, don't use them since setidriver is. setispy creates a log file, which can be pasted into excel and then transformed into columns data>text to columns then just keep hitting okay. you can then perform all sorts of things on your times, angle ranges, etc. hope that wasn't too confusing :)

dasm i hate my ISP now its been down for like 40 minutes! i don't have a single good ping here!
