Really bad DOMS 3-4 days on

I lift weights on regular basis, 30-40 minues 2.5 times per week on average. I'm not doing grueling sessions or anything but I occasionally get really bad DOMS. Right now I still have it from my Monday workout, which again I didn't consider to be a grueling exercise. I eat very healthy, all my food is prepared fresh and I only eat out once or twice per week. Lots of veggies, lean meats, protein powder. I also take creatine supplements. Why am I getting such bad DOMS and what can i do about it? It doesn't really seem to help taking extra whey protein.

I know you mentioned you are not doing grueling sessions, but that can be interpreted many ways. So, my question is, are you leaving 2+ reps in the tank each set with proper form? In my experience, DOMS "bad" DOMS can have three causes, and all of them are possible at the same time. This is different, though, from normal DOMS which is just a slight soreness.

1) Lay-off period. But you said this isn't new, so I would wager this is not the cause
2) You are training too close to failure - Try leaving 2+ reps in the tank with good form.
3) Certain foods are inflammatory - Generally processed carbs are inflammatory. Try removing them from your diet.

Additionally, you can supplement with Turmeric, which has many anti-inflammatory properties. From my personal experience, eliminating processed carbs (well, I might sneak some in, cuz they are delicious), not training to failure and taking turmeric has really been a trifecta approach to reducing DOMS and joint paint in general. Night a day difference and I have made note of this in my personal training journal.

How are you taking it? Can I use what I have in the spice rack or is it a capsule you are taking?

I take capsules. Turmeric from a spice rack is good, but contains significantly less curcuminoids, which make for many medicinal properties. So most people take a supplement to get a much higher dosage of curcumin.

Thanks, what brand? So I do not buy something that may have little or any actual turmeric in it.
