Reallocating Resources

The title says it all. Over the past few weeks, all of my GPUs were requiring constant attentions and babysitting to run F@H. Unstable errors, 24 hour shutdowns, etc...all with the cards at stock settings (except for fanspeed). I am tired of watching over them.

I tried the GPUgrid application via BOINC and it is works well, and so far after a couple of weeks requires no intervention on my part other than supplying electricity;>)

So, sorry to my fellow folders at AnandTech, I'll no longer be contributing to the team's total for F@H. Efforts are now directed to the Team AnandTech GPUgrid team, with six (6) active members. Same sort of science, basically...

Nothing wrong with that choice! I've enjoyed your teamwork in F@H and you'll be a great addition to GPUgrid too.

Keep 'em warm :sun:

Welcome to boinc! 🙂

Although I'm not on GPUgrid (i've got poor GPUs), I can still welcome you to the boinc segment of the team!

I have to agree.

Sorry that you had troubles with your cards with F@H. May you have success towards GPUgrid. The best of luck to you JTW! 🙂

I have to agree with you as well.....For all the work we do and the little part in my opinion the nerds at pande group and stanford need to do to facilitate all our actual work....I am amazed by the issues with their software, servers (stat and work unit), etc. Not to mention there incredibly idiotic and hard to follow scoring system.

I am folding now, but trust me I usually end up stopping when they piss me off....when units hang for hours trying to get new work....when I have a rare EEU and go to the forum and find out hundreds are as well...

So as my rant continues I say I would like to expect some higher competence from these guys considering the massive volunteer venture with astronmically energy and hardware cost we put into it....

That being said....I think the gpu client is by far the most stable of all of the clients I have ever ran.....SMP units suck!!!!
