A self defense expert I watched said the easiest way to fend off a dog or get one to release you from its bite are to go for the eyes. He also made the point that a dog biting you on the leg will not likely kill you but we have the instinctual fear of teeth and biting so people often panic rather than acting to defend themselves.

Sure the dog can bite, but you can, too.

Even a chimpanzee?

Sure, I'm sure there are well-trained men in the world who can do this.
Men from countries who deal with these sorts of animals (Africa) are also capable.

Um, no. A man is not going to be able to kill a chimp in hand-to-hand combat. They can rip your arms off with ease, like Chewbacca. Chimps are faster than we are over short distances, too.

I've wondered this as well. I think any full grown man in decent shape would have a chance even against larger dogs. I know police dogs can take down a man easily but really how often is the criminal willing to go all out and kill the dog? Most people know you get into deep shit for that.

It's pretty easy if you're prepared and have some kind of blunt object. Not so easy if it's a surprise attack from a muscular/large dog and you only have your bare hands.

While I have never fought a dog, I think it would be pretty easy to choke one out. I out weigh most any dog out there and I don't see a problem pinning it to the ground and strangling it. My concern would be if it got a hold of me. Dogs have very powerful jaws and if he clamped on your right arm, you'd have a hard time getting loose or strangling him with the other hand.
I also have a Leatherman Wave on my belt if I am working....

Where are the experts to weigh on on how to kill a pitbull with your bear hands.

If I had bear hands, I could kill any dog.

I could kill anything if I had bear hands.

a random 25 pound dog is really easy to push around

killing one to save your cat is kind of overdoing it unless the dog is stuck in "red zone" aggression

I would think without weapons, the best way to attack a dog is with kicks. You'll have longer range than our arms and can keep your neck away from them. For bigger dogs, I'm not sure even a solid kick would faze them much.

I'm not sure I could do it with my own hands, but if I had bear hands? No problem, those things are huge!

I've thought about this and it doesn't seem too difficult... See, we have 2 hands, 2 legs, and if need be, a mouth. The dog just has a mouth.

I think the best way to go is to let the dog bite your hand. If you try to pull it out, well, you won't be able to, but you can use your other hand to grab the back of the dog's neck, and then ram your first hand down the dog's throat. They REALLY don't like that.

The other option is to use one hand on the dog's upper jaw, and one hand on the dog's lower jaw, then yank them open until it breaks. They don't like that either.

<--- has never actually hurt a dog, and would never ever do it unless it was in self defense.

Opening the jaw is probably impossible for most people with most breeds.

Opening their jaw means you have to overcome the bite force. Id just ram my thumb into its eye socket and see how much it likes that.

I think it would be difficult to beat a guard breed in a fight without sustaining injuries, but ultimately you should be able pin it to the ground and choke it to death.

You vastly underestimate primate strength
