I have a PC Power Cooling Silencer 275W ATX Power Supply and I was wondering realistically is that enough power and cooling for a 1GHz + Athlon system with say a Geforce 2 card, One 7200rpm IDE HD, One CD-ROM, sound and nic? That should be enough juice right? Any suggestions would be helpful

You might need a case fan, intake.
Get one of tose silenced or a 12V 120mm Panflo with alluminium frame, and run it @ 5V.
Silentious as it can be!

That should be plenty. I`m going to try to run my duron 600 @ 1000 with an abit kt7, and so one with a 235watt powersupply. I'll see if it works good or not!

Usul: Why a case fan? Do these really get that hot compared to a Celeron 566 @ 850 with a golden orb. I only had a fan on the power supply for exhust and it wasn't over heating.

I'd use a 300W power supply and then slap an Alpha fan on that puppy. That should keep it cool. Also an extra case fan wouldn't hurt to keep you cards cool. Maybe even a slot fan right next to your video card.

Hey Tofu,
The PS you have is fine, don't waste money by getting another PS. If you want a quiet intake 80mm fan, I got some adda fans from phamcomputer.com for about $8. its only 22.5dba so they are pretty quiet. I have a slot fan underneath my video card but its not totally necessary only a luxury. You can get a cheap one from onvia.com, look for the antec case fan. about $11. free shipping. That's about it, the best money for the value cpu is a duron overclocked to 1gig. keep that in mind.
