Agree to "warning", it won't put spyware on your machine, I promise! :)

Maximise the window titled "J Track 3D" to full screen. Click the Earth and drag so the outermost orbits (white dots) of satellites are arranged vertically. Drag left and right. Notice how the dots in the back disappear while dragging? (They do with my 213T) If you're using a CRT they shouldn't disappear at all.

By far, this is the most noticeable artifact I've seen due to low response times of LCD displays.

Cheers!

Doesn't happen on my Dell laptop either, and I asure you the response time on this thing is nothing to write home about.

I also use an 1800FP and the stars/asteroid belt did not disappear, but the ones in the back did become darker since that java applet has some light effects.

They didn't disappear with my wonderful Dell1900FP either. Like John said, the ones in the back get a little dimmer, but that's an effect, they stay dimmer even when you're not dragging.

They get dimmer as you drag slowly. Faster dragging results in them fading completely. (invisible)

I will try to get a picture of this if possible. I'll see if I can get permission to turn off the "always on" nuclear back up lights overhead.

I'll try this on my wife's computer with a SDM181 TFT.

Funny thing is this 213T has a published response time of 25mS and the Sony is 35mS. The 213T is clearly slower as I can notice certain things I didn't with the other TFT's. Colour looks better on the 213T however. Well worth it IMO.

Cheers!

Well I'm sure you know that the response time that is published is the black-white-black time, and colors can be much higher than this. Its another number that we can't always take for face value from companies...

The "white dots" do not dim or disappear even when I drag slowly or as fast as I can move the mouse.

Does anyone have a Samsung display they can test on? Specifically a 213T.

EDIT: BTW, those "white dots" are neither stars or asteroid belt members. They're birds (satellites) we launched there!

Cheers!

UPDATE:

When doing this with the SDM-81, the white dots in the background do not disappear! Just as I suspected, the pixel response time is slower on this 213T.

Cheers!

Using my NEC 1760V they were perfectly clear. Not surprising though since this 16ms monitor simply kicks ass, never seen any ghosting in games, even when I first bought it.

They do disappear -- or nearly so -- when I tried this with my Dell 1901FP. I wonder how much of this is due to the video card or drivers?

I notice the same thing on my 172T.

I find it's always worst with a back blackground. ie. Go to the www.arstechnica.com front page and scroll up and down.

Red and orange letters are worse than white. Watch them as you scroll.
