Real time stock ticker on my computer

I had some extra time on my hands, so I wrote a stock ticker for the little VFD on my computer case. As it turns out, cnbc has a *real time* webservice for the numbers... pretty neato!

I wonder if I could do that with my G15 keyboard. That's wicked 🙂 Although, I think the Vista Sidebar is a little more practical.

There's a stocks2 widget for vista that does real time quotes, I couldn't find any real time ones for mac... so i made this little thing.

I've been using Stocks 3.3 for the last two months. It does a good job and seems to update every few seconds (plus it's not obnoxious enough to be distracting).

Yeah I run lcdproc (google for the outsource project), so it's just a matter of writing a client for the service. I did it with python for sake of getting er done easy
