In an effort to curb spam, I want to block as many offenders as possible before they even make into my network. Since adding 5 different servers to my spam blocking software, we have seen a drop from 250 spams per hour to around 70, not bad, but I want more!

Currently, I have the following set up:

sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org
opm.blitzed.org
bl.spamcop.net
blackholes.mail-abuse.org
zombie.dnsbl.sorbs.net

Spam Haus and SpamCop result in about 99% of all the blocks.

Not meaning to sound mean but if you are getting 70/250 still.... why not search through those 70 to find some common denominator like the 5 you've already cut off.

Im not an expert or even a novice so I was just voicing what seemed like the most obvious thing to do (to me).

Well, those 70 are then processed by the spam filter and then isolated, so it isn't a big deal, however I would like to give the server a break in regards to the amount of scanning it does. An RBL does the work before the server has to. If I were to add more rules in, that is more work that we do internally.
