Real quick on the fly, can I use any SSD as a SLC caching drive

Real quick on the fly I just want to be sure. Can I use any SSD as a SLC or does it have to be a SLC specific drive? They're all SATA connection right?

Does it just depend on the type of SLC? So like for a msata SLC, i'd have to get msata, or for Sata SLC a Sata SSD? Or is this funtion specifically only used for msata drives? Sorry 🙁

SATA has absolutely nothing to do with SLC.

SLC stands for Single Level Cell. where each cell contains 1 bit.
MLC stands for Multi level cell. where each cell contains 2 bits (sacrificing speed and lifespan for twice the size)
Lately 3bit MLC came about too.

SLC and MLC are both found in SATA SSDs, in integrated chips, in camera memory chips, in USB sticks, and basically anywhere at all where you use flash memory.

As for the question, there is no drive where you can just flip a switch or toggle and option and swap it from SLC to MLC or vice versa.
As for the other question, yes you can use an MLC drive as a cache device.
