Despite the article, I say it is without question RENDERED. The angles of the icicle formations on the trees suggests they were formed with a much higher wind speed and in a different direction than the icicles formed on the cars.

The wind comes across the water, then hits the breakwall and is forced up towards the tops of the trees. You have a breeze that's coming across the trees but below will be much calmer.

Stand behind a car when it's windy, you'll find a spot that has almost still air.

My theory is that everyone that claimed the icicles are fake lives in California and only sees the ice floating in their drinks.

wow, crazy. i showed it to my gf and she wouldn't believe that it was real. hahaha says all the pictures are fake.
