Real or Rendered? (the truth has been posted)

The reason I felt it was real was the ends of the metal where it was shered off. It is not uniform which I dont think if rendered the person the made it would to made the ends to look like they were shered off. Insted they would of been perfect which if you look closely they are not.

Actually, this has inspired me... I am in a drafting class where we get to work on whatever we want... and lets say Ive been doing more ATOT than drafting....oops. I decided i am going to make a rendered version of that picture. it will be kinda difficult, but it will really test my skills as a 3d modeler... Ill post updates and what not, and Ill be sure to post the final product.
