The wire makes it look fake. And the way the tubes are look skrewed. But I unno it could be real.

In my opinion the building in the forefront looks real, look at that superb detail on the wall- how the cement looks so realistic and the cracks and everything. THen I look at that building above in the background and I see something totally fake. The texture on the wall looks unrealstic.

So I say combo of real and rendered!

Looks real to me. Perhaps the "crosshair" is a reflection of the "crosshair" in the viewfinder of the camera, since by the angle of the shadows we know that the sun is coming towards the camera.

The only thing that makes me second guess it is the crosshair and the "FR" spraypainted on the door... first off, I don't know why someone would do that, second, the paint looks fake.

The sky seems rather empty.

The border between the sky and the upper building looks a little odd to me so I'll say rendered.

most likely jpeg artifacts though

Yep, low res+jpg=hard to tell if it's real or rendered. I'm saying real on this one, but I think your crippling us with the low res images.

I have to make it somewhat challanging

but with this image, the original is much better, but since I only have paint on this computer to crop out the text that was on it, lost some quality in that process

Or they are a couple of heavier guage wires twisted around each other inside another wire. Look at a used CAT-5 cable (one that's been wound up over and over), it's twisted, and from a distance looks "aliaised." ;)

BTW, if they had been AAed, you wouldn't see what your seeing, it would be smoother.

Damn, I think I see a missing shadow on the wires now. Look at the one cable by itself, on the left hand side of the screen. It has a shadow on the wall to the left facing us, but not on the wall facing to the right where the cable extends out from.

Gah, this is why I don't do this kind of stuff for a living! :p

aaaand its rendered

and you guys are right, about the background building, it should be more fuzzy, lacks the misty feel from the heat

I knew it!

The texture used for the front wall looks great, but everything else looks fake. The wood trim (front window frame), the wood texture for the front door on the left, the plain grey pipes, and the edges of the front window sill (and the sides/top) are a bit too perfect for that kind of construction.

EDIT: Also, the paper/leather/weird stuff behind the front window frame doesn't look real.

exactly right, also one thing I have started to notice about renders of buildings is that corners are usualy 90° with a very sharp end, but in reality corners are only sharp up to a point, adding tiny bit of curvatures to the corners help a great deal
