Real or Computer Generated?

Well, I made the picture and it IS a picture. Although heavily processed using tonal mapping with Photomatix. This tonal mapping makes use of the higher dynamic range in a RAW file and maps this information in a 24 bit JPEG.

That's real. See, I took a pic of myself, loaded it up in photoshop, added some more weight, replaced the head with a circle, and then blackened-in the rest of my body. So there, that's obviously a "real" picture by the OP's and his accomplice's standards.

Well....it looks as if it's both real AND rendered

BTW, do you have any higher rez pics in those links, they'd make great wallpaper.

Ok... now that looks real. The tonal mapping changes the textures and lighting which makes the whole thing look rendered.

Edit: Of course this also brings up another interesting question. How much longer will it be until the even the eye of a professional is no longer able to distinguish real from rendered? We already have computer graphics with so much depth and detail they can fool most people.

ROFLOL
🙂

Looks like really heavy post-processing. 😛

By the way, I found this page by looking for my website's name in Google (okay, I was ego-surfing). Anyway, I thought I should reply. 🙂 So I registered. Nice forum, this is. I think I'll linger here a bit more.
TS made good advertising this way! 😀

Just beware P&N and you'll be alright.

Great pictures all over your site. We have a computer in our office named Dommel (one of the photo galleries). That's because ppl from Delft used for flow measurements and there's a good scientific dataset.
