Real One Player is doing CRAZY things

I got a couple of new CDs the other day. I like to rip them to my computer and keep the original in my car. So I ripped my two new ones like I always do using RealOne Player. They both ripped fine. After a while I got double songs from one CD (two track ones and two track twos and so on). That was a little weird, but then I clicked on the first one to play in and it was a Metallica Song (I do have a lot of Metallica stuff on here), all of the songs info was right. So, I went to delete then from the folder where RealOne stores ripped songs. And they were all .m4a's. I've never seen this extension before. But CDKNOW said it was the audio layer of Mpeg4s. So anyway, I deleted them and tried to re-rip the CD. Half of then would only go to 99% and stop. I just said to heck with it at that point. Unitl just a little while ago I notice all the songs from the second new CD I got (Alter Bridge, FYI) were missing from my playlist. So I checked the folder, and sure enough they were all .m4a's too. But I just listened to them a few hours ago. WTF is up with my computer?????

Sorry, this has no relevance to your thread. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure what you're asking.

Real Player blows. Thats why I refuse to use any Real product, they suck. They want me to use there sh!tty media format, only on there crappy player full of ads, popups and all that gibberish. I hope they go under soon. I hate that company, and I wish people would stop ripping files in .rm format. Its a horrible horrible program.

If you want to rip some CDs, use CDex. No one knows what the hell a .m4a is, and it will never be popular media file (.wma, .jpg, .mp3, etc). Rip it to mp3s... probally alot less trouble in the future, as far as compatibility goes (mp3 players, media players, etc)

Use Winamp to play your media. Screw Realplayer.

Okay well I figured something out. It was set in the options to save as m4a. But that doesn't explain why they all the sudden dissapeared from the list and became unplayable. So anyway. Problem solved its just kinda weird.

I feel the opposite. WinAmp sucks. They make me reload my entire list of songs everytime I add something and I have to sit there while it changes the names in the playlist. And if I try to sort them aphabetically before its done, everything gets out of order. I got tired of doing that.

Plus RealOne will rip my CDs, burn them, transfer songs to my Zire71, and play absolutly everything I want to play. Why use 2-3 programs when I can use one.

Use RealOne for you Media. Screw WinAmp.

For the love of GOD, don't use RealOne. I hate it. I actually prefer iTunes even though it's a memory hog. The search feature just can't be beat. Plus, there ARE ways to load the program without ipodservice and ituneshelper loading at the same time. It's just a matter of playing around with it...

I remember on tech TV one time they were reviewing media applications and their review for real one was this "We couldn't give real one a fiar score because we could never use it for an extended period of time. Mabye if we try it one more time here to at least show you guys... oopse, there it goes again. Froze and the computer rebooted." I haven't had any respect for real player after that.

Oh My God, you broke the golden rule. You posted a question concerning Real One in the AT Forums.

All kidding aside, it really is a piece of junk.

You could stick your hand in a bag of nails and come out with a better application than whatever Real One puts out.

For ripping CDs, Audio Catalyst or whatever, but not Real One! :disgust:

But, if Real One seems works for you and your harware, you had better be prepared for the "Real One Player is doing CRAZY things" to continue.
