figures. its creator is a german guy with a funny name.

lol, it's almost always the Germans that do things like this. And when it isn't entertainment, it's experimentation.

Hiiiiooo. I saw it. It was pretty sweet. The body with every single blood vessel displayed was by far the best. And I learned that the brain...while consisting of 2% of the body takes up 20% of cardio output from the heart.

Do you think the smell will go away just because he's freeze dried? :p

I saw a thing on the Discovery channel about a year ago. It was about this dude that made "art" from cadavers. Pretty messed up stuff, but it was interesting.

My sister went to see that. She said it wasn't what she was expecting. I think there were some animals too? A horse?

Some had muscles spread out in fans from one tendon point so you could see the individual muscles etc.

Apparently the guy has/had plans for the next project was to show a cutaway of two dead bodies having sex...

Seems really disturbing to me. You donate your body to this guy and he decides to display your body having sex with some stranger preseved for however long this stuff lasts. Creepy.

Oh yeah, and she said the gross part was showing the body of a normal person vs someone overweight.

Apparently it looked like the fat body was just the same size of a normal person as far as muscles and everything but they had a really thick layer of fat between the muscles and skin. I guess that's what is to be expected, but apparently seeing it "in the flesh" was pretty disturbing.

A friend of mine saw it in Chicago and was telling me about it. Said he was shocked at first but it was actually a really good learning experience for him. Lost it's 'shock' and grossness after he learned more about it.

The reviews and info on the site are pretty interesting.

Funny you should mention this. My GF is on business in Philidelphia, PA, and this exhibit is there at the moment. She saw an ad for it and expressed interest in it.

Just another one of those crazy German ideas. I'd go if it came to Atlanta, having just missed the exhibit last time I was in Munich.

Yeah I saw it, and it was totally cool. I liked how it showed cutaways of every part of the body, and you got to view all the pieces from all angles. It was morbid and fascinating at the same time.

I saw it when I was in chicago. I don't have a strong stomach for seeing things like I saw there, though, so.... well, it was an interesting experiance anyway. I didn't particularly like seeing guys testicles hanging down between their legs, though (no scrotum). And you remember these were real people, and some of them still had eyes (they were plasticized to keep them looking real, same thing they did to about every other part of the body -- muscles, etc -- to keep them "fresh" looking)

There were also a pregnant woman cut open so you could see the child inside her. There were also babies of at least 8-12 different stages of development that had to have been taken from the womb.

There were so many "exhibits" that it really just amazes me that they got that many bodies, and did that much work on them.

So on the one hand, I was grossed out. On the other hand, it was an amazing experiance.

I am actually surpised the conservatives haven't called for a boycott of this exhibit.

How dare children see dead nude bodies? How dare they show aborted fetuses? My God, I bet they even had dead nude children! Are they encouraging pedophiles?

(I of course would disagree with such a boycott. Just playing Devil's Advocate.)

Reading the reviews (from just about any source) are very positive once the gross factor is addressed. It's not a "Gore" freak show in the sense of death and it doesn't seem to import a sense of voyeurism or 'nudity'. Certainly it's not for everyone but a little education and exposure go a long way to portraying the idea for what it is.
