Just gonna throw Nas out there... as IMO he is the best of the "mainstream" rappers.

Aesop Rock? They are such an awful group, in every way...if the others are anything like that I'm glad I don't listen to hip hop even moreso.

Papoose's alphebetical slaughter is pretty damned nice.

Personally I like Eminem's Rabbit Run song...yup...

Wu Tang Clan
Pete Rock and CL Smooth

KRS 1

Man, nobody's mentioned Tupac or Notorious B.I.G. yet? WTF?

/edit - Some more for you:

Dead Prez
Black Starr (Mos Def & Talib Kweli)
Busta Rhymes (The Coming and When Disaster Strikes were awesome albums!)
Kanye West (his debut album is pretty good)
Jay-Z
Dilated Peoples

You can visit http://www.ohhla.com to find out every hip-hop artist that ever released an album. It's a lyric site, but it'll still help jive your memory and help you remember the name of that group that was on the tip-of-your-tongue for the last couple of days.

I don't like them.

Who gives a fvck?! As much as you dislike them it doesn't change the fact that they were still amazing rappers for their time and for ours now. They were real and tight (if I were to describe them like thahenchman) and left a lasting impression on the hip-hop culture.

If everything was the way you liked it, all the women on this planet would be lounging around in men's clothes all day looking like bums.

Aesop Rock's Labor Days is, in my opinion, one of the best hip hop productions ever.
Also, to keep from looking more foolish, Aesop Rock is a "him" not a "them"

And not to mention the fact that Aesop Rock is ONE person.
