"MADRID - A group of real estate developers and property owners in La Manga del Mar Menor - a spit of sandy, low-lying coastal land and Murcia's premier beach resort - are threatening to take Greenpeace to court over its graphic predictions of what global warming may do to the area, which they say have caused house prices to plummet.

The lawsuit, which the plaintiffs plan to present unless Greenpeace agrees to an out of court settlement of almost EUR 30 million in damages, comes more than six months after La Manga featured prominently in a photo book published by the environmental organisation that was intended to shock Spain into action on climate change."

almost unbelieveable.

i might have mistitled the post. sounds like they're threatening to sue.

if sea level rises 60 feet, certain towns will be under water. Stanford U. is about 30 meters elevation, so i guess 60 feet of sea level rise would make Middlefield, in Palo Alto, beachfront real estate. for some home-owners, that might be a plus.

If those real estate developers don't want to worry about global warming, they should look for a place in the shade.

Green Peace could encourage them to do that by telling them to stick it where the sun don't shine.

All the real estate industry has to do is insure those properties for free against any loss from global warming. If there is no risk the insurance will be cheep and there won't be any claims.

Holy shit Batman and Robin, the Joker is loose again. Quick and without delay, Deploy the bat mobile, lawyers, and the courts. If they can't stop rising sea levels, who can? But when the insurance industry loses their ass on claims, a rate increase is justified for us all.
