Real Estate Fees

SALvation

Senior member
Just curious, what kind of fees does a place like Century21 charge for selling your home? Is it a set number or a percentage of the sale? I'm in Michigan if it matters.

SAL

i just met with a century 21 agent here in NJ about a week ago. it's apercentage of the sale price of the house. max is 6% (which is a lot btw) many agents will work out a percentage with you. talk to one. 🙂

I'm selling my place now. It's normally 6% but since we are also buying a place through the same agent, he lowered the rate to 5%.

Holy crap! So if I sell my condo next year for $140k, I would owe the agent $6-7k on top of closing costs for a house I would buy? Damn.
