Real Christmas Tree or Fake?

I'm going to buy a real tree for the first time ever. My wife wants a fake one, as she says the real ones require too much maintenance and only last for 10 days.

No tree.
If I find myself with a wife and kids one day, then I'll get a tree.

Also, it won't be a fake tree. It will be only real trees, and I will chop them down myself.

You live alone?

I'd still get a tree.

So, you go out in the woods and kill a living thing. Then you bring the dead carcass home, prop it up inside the house and hang ornaments and light on it? Pretty barbaric custom when you think about it.

Read my original post.

The majority of live xmas trees are grown on farms. Farms that impact the environment much less significantly than vegetable farms. Tree farms harvest on a 10 year cycle so there is no erosion or nutrient issues. They require little to no fertilizer, support local economies, consume carbon dioxide and can be used in constructive and environmentally friendly ways after the holidays.
My post wasn't serious guys. Come on.

Wow! The last real tree we bought was $80 here. Next year we went to fake. There are at least three Christmas tree farms within 8 miles of here. I don't know what they're charging now, but they found our limit and lost our business for good.

I bought a real tree last year, and it was a hassle getting it home, drug in from the garage to the house, trimmed, watered, then taken back down after Christmas. So when Christmas was over, I bought a $69.98 (MSRP) pre-lit artificial 6.5' tree from Target for 75% off.

I popped it up within 5 minutes and plugged it in -- BAM, instant Christmas tree. I lit an evergreen candle and placed it on the mantel, so it smells like we have a real tree in the house 🙂

i'd love to get a real again one Christmas but for now it's fake pre-lit for the lazy win. all i have to do is put it up and "fluff" the branches 😉 ... the better half decorates.

So no Christmas decorations because you live alone? They're cheery.

Merry Christmas Charlie Brown 😉

Fake. Lasts longer, no muss, no fuss, cheaper in the long run, pre - lit, it's what I grew up with, and it's less of a fire hazard come january. 🙂

We have a fake one this year, with all the built in LED lighting. It's much easier and more convenient in an Apartment with pets.

If you buy fake definately look into the LED models. Like I said in my post above, I usually leave my tree up 'till March and on most of the times. Sometimes 24/7, and it's on it's 2nd year with not one light out.

The year before the LED tree (tree with reg lights)................ The mth I bought it.................. Lights were going out!

I hate LIGHTS! Reminds me of a SONG

I don't want a tree (real or fake) in the house.

It is simply something else to clean up and take care of. If it was my choice, we would put a couple of strands of tinsel on an existing house plant and be done with it.

Prelit tree + foam ornaments wired on + rollers + unused closet = instant christmas!
