Real Bluetooth Tooth

The device, called the dDrive, is a Bluetooth enabled 512mb hardrive that can be implanted as a tooth.
A hard drive? Come on. If someone was even going to do something like this, it'd have to be some kind of very low power-consumption solid state memory stuff.

It's fake.

This part's also pretty sketchy:
Airlines in the US have already indicated that they will completely support and promote the dDrive
Yeah right. Someone could edit the data on the drive, or fool the airport's scanner into thinking another bluetooth device was the dDrive. I don't see why they'd offer benefits ("expedited checkins and discounted tickets") to ppl with this... it's more likely to complicate security checks IMO.
 
It doesn't say that it a currently shipping product, but a prototype design. It won't be long before someone could fit 512meg of memory in an area that small.

Size of the electronics isn't the problem, the problem is power. You'd need a VERY efficent way to transfer heat to electrical energy to make it possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone, somewhere tried to prototype this, and I imagine it would be incredibly useful in the intelligence sector. Honestly, if I had a fake tooth I'd love to replace it with one of these, but there just isn't currently a power supply good enough to power it, except MAYBE nuclear (electricity from radiactive decay, we're not talking about reactors) but I would NOT want that next to soft tissue.

What about some kind of piezoelectric power source that charges a (very small) battery as you chew food or move your jaw?
