Readyboost -- does it really do anything today?

I have 4GB of ram on my computer. Considering this, will a 4gb or 8gb readyboost drive do anything to improve performance? Any reason NOT to plug on in?
 
Flash memory (USB Sticks) is significantly slower than RAM. Unless you have a low amount of ram <= 1GB, I wouldn't suggest using readyboost.
 
It won't do nothing for you.

That said, I have Vista installed on a Acer Aspire One with 512 MB of RAM, and it definitely helps when you are multitasking.

But it's a matter of time until I buy an extra gig of RAM for it and forget about ReadyBoost at all.

Yeah, this is the about only scenario that ReadyBoost has a value right now.

Otherwise it is a feature that would be very useful in years to come.
 
With the prices of DDR2 RAM, the amount of money you spent on a USB drive, you could have bought another GB of RAM which would be worlds faster.
