Hello:

I found a very nice computer deal (even though refurbished):

Intel® Pentium 4 2.66GHz Processor
533MHz Front Side Bus
512KB L2 Cache
256MB PC2100 DDR266 Memory
120GB 7200RPM Seagate® Hard Drive
High-Speed CD-RW Drive
16x DVD-ROM Drive
Floppy Drive Not Included
10/100Mbps Onboard Ethernet Adapter
56K PCI Modem
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce4 Ti4200 Video
AC '97 6-Channel Surround Sound
Flash/Memory Card Reader
IEEE 1394 FireWire Interface
Microsoft® Works Suite 2003
Microsoft® Windows XP Home Edition

The whole deal is for less than $750 and is a Medion PC. Only thing I need to add is more memory:

Should I order 2 512 MB ones or just get one 1 GB one and use it side by side of my 256 one that I already have. I ask this cos someone told me that DDR memory works better in pairs.
Thanks
Akshay

Well, that RAM is kind of slow, only 266mhz and your FSB runs at 533mhz on that. If it uses a dual channel motherboard, then you'll be fine, otherwise you won't get as much speed as your expecting. Have you compared how much it would cost for a similar system if you built it and bought the parts from newegg.com? Also, that video card won't last long if your gaming a lot, unless you'll play without AA and AF.

CPU - 217
Motherboard - ABIT BH7 $92
Memory - $27
Hard Drive with 8mb cache - $114 Hitachi 120GB
CDRW/DVD drive - $32 LITE-ON XJ-HD166S
Radoen 9500 - $137

In one of your posts, you mentioned that you have Windows 2000 Pro, so in my mind that is good enough. Without a new OS, your total is $614 without a case/psu

Edit: These are all prices from Newegg, most invlude shipping
Edit 2: None of this is refurbished
