ready to buy Mac book prold

I ve done all my homework. And I am sure I want the Macbook Pro 2.4ghz 15inch Model.

I don't keep up with the latest Mac news, but is there anything I should know about before I buy.

1) Is there some new version of the mac book pro that's about to come out in Feb, cause if thats the case I can wait 1 month.

2) Should I buy the extended warrenty.

1. Steve Jobs will be giving the keynote at Macworld 2008 on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008. A new model might be announced then, but I doubt it. You should buy what you want, when you want it, and the model you have chosen is crazy fast.

2. Yes.

Are you using the educational discount?

AppleCare is cheapest on eBay.

I reccomend the matte screen for any real work.
 
Another vote for the matte screen from me. I bought the 17" 2.4 high resolution 1920x1200 screen MBP back in June, and still absolutely love it.
 
oh good point about the matte screen.

I guess there are two options:

1) Glossy screen
2) anti-glare screen

Whats the difference? I was going to go glossy screen, just cause its sounds nicer.

And yes I am getting the student discount. I believe teh store clerk, said 200 off for the macbook pro.

Anti-glare is matte.

Edit: the glossy screen is like the Macbook. It makes colors look more vibrant but then you have to deal with the fact that it's glossy and can reflect light.
Second edit: if you're buying a MBP, maybe wanna try the ADC route? Apparently you can save another $100 off the academic price.
 
Apple Developer Connection. You have to verify that you are actually a student, give them $99. However, you get free copies of OS X when a new version comes out (I think you have to pay $99/year for that, but you also get OS X Server) as well as a bunch of other developer swag.

Then you get a 1 time discounted hard ware purchase. Best used on the MacBook Pro or Mac Pro
