I have Windows 7 installed onto Drive 1
I just installed an SSD

I want to copy the install from Drive 1 to the SSD.

Here is the kicker, I have no optical drive (and even if I did, I don't have my Win 7 disk with me), and no internet connection on that system.

Ready go.

Make a bootable USB drive with Clonezilla on it, boot to that, and clone the drive over.

I am staying in a hotel for a couple of weeks and have access to a 1.5Mb connection that gives me 30KB downloads. Any other suggestions that are slightly smaller in size?

Not really. There may be something else, but Clonezilla's my goto utility for that kind of task.

OK, and if I cannot download the clonezilla ISO because the connection drops on the crappy hotel wifi?

I have an external that I could wipe, it is 250GB and the current OS drive is 500GB. Can anyone explain to me, step by step, how to use Acronis to copy from a 500GB drive to a 250GB drive to a 120GB drive? Every time I have tried to use it before, it wouldn't let me do anything like that because the source drive was larger than the destination drive, and god forbid it actually look and see that I am only using 60GB of the source drive.

My acronis can resize down just fine. I wonder what is going on?

I don't know, but every other time I have tried, it has wanted to copy the entire disk, free space, other partitions, everything.

I just broke down last night and bought another copy of Win7. Turns out there was a microcenter about 20 minutes from where I am and I didn't even know it. So, I got a copy there, and reinstalled.

Thanks for the suggestions though.
