Does anyone have experience using ready boost?

My laptop is a HP dv2000 series and has 2 gig of ram.
The ram is shared by the video and rest of the laptop.

I would like to add more memory but when I contacted HP they told me that 2 gig of ram is the maximum that can be used.

I read that the Vista o/s has ready boost that will add more memory.
From what I found ready boost is supported by using USB drives.
Does anyone make a sd card that is ready boost capable??
I don?t like the idea of having a usb drive sticking out of the side of my laptop all the time whereas a sd card will be ?inside the laptop via the built in card reader?.

Thanks

Yes, an sd card would work. Try to find one with fast read/write speeds. Honestly though, the difference in speed may be rather minimal

It'll work and you should probably use an SDHC Class 4 or 6 card, but I don't think there's really much (if any) improvement in performance using Readyboost on a system with 2GB of RAM or more. I've never noticed it at least, but that's just me.

yeah everything i've seen.. it doesnt really do anything. i think this readyboost thing was suppose to help laptops with smaller amounts of ram? but with ram being so cheap, and almost being required to get more for vista to run smoothly, i dont think theres a point to it

I have a HP Notebook with the T2390 processor and 2 Gb RAM, and I have noticed no difference with a 4 GB Hi Speed SD card using Vista Home Prem X86.

ReadyBoost is great if you have 512MB of RAM in a 'Vista Capable' machine, because then you have an intermediary when the OS starts inevitably swapping after 5 minutes of usage.

ReadyBoost is f-ing useless if you have 2GB or more in a Vista system, it won't be swapping for a while. ANd as others have pointed out, RAM is stupid cheap.

HI
Sorry I am slow to respond here. Too much babysitting and a large ?Honey do? list from the wife! LOLOL
I bought two of these cards to use for the boost. I will use the extra one for other things or give it to my daughter.

If it works then I am happy!
If it doesn?t work I will use the cards for other things.
The price was good and free shipping from Newegg.

After I bought the cards I started to think in a different direction.
My laptop takes a long time to start up which makes me think I have too many programs loading on startup thus slowing the pc down.

I will post on another day looking for info on finding the programs that load on startup and how to get rid of them.

Thanks
