Wow, I think it's true. I am excellent at math and I swear my reading comprehension skills are lacking.

Meh, at least I can spell.

Hmm... My left hand they're the same length. My right hand's ring finger is a tiny hair longer, but I'm not particularly adept at math. I've always been better at language arts.

Measuring from the webbed part of the hand to the tip of the finger:
pinky: 2 + 4/10 inches
ring: 2 + 9/10 inches
middle: 3 + 3/10 inches
index: 2 + 9/10 inches

My ring and index fingers are the same length and I'm very good at math.

And was this based on statistics from a genuine study, or something someone read in an e-mail that started off with "FWD: Re: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: OMG WOW Fwd: READ"?

There was a real study about this but it wasn't related to math.

What the study showed was that lesbian women also tended to have the more "masculine" arrangement - that is, they had shorter index fingers.

But the ratio of finger sizes in men was more complicated. Comparisons between all men showed no differences. Only gay men with several older brothers had an unusually "masculine" finger ratio - in other words, they had significantly shorter index fingers.

Having a large number of older brothers had previously been established as a factor predisposing men to homosexuality, and like finger length reflects prenatal androgen exposure.

(I love how the page name is "homo finger")

r. hand, index finger is a few mm longer
l. hand, index finger is at least a cm longer.

I'm good with reading and writing, but can barely add 2+2 and get 5.

I looked at this, and then thought about the my major (engineering) and said eff this. All I know is it doesn't make a difference flogging the log.

better thread would be whether length of ring/index fingers correlates with a person's choice of sexuality

Longer ring finger, good at both.

Ditto. Though this goes by my college experience, as I'm not as good at math anymore since I don't use it regularly in daily life. If I were to study it again, I would do well.

I love to read.

heh the poll results contradict what the picture states. atot tends to attract more mathematically inclined people though, so i'm not too surprised at the results even if there is any validity to the statement. i also don't fit that rule, having longer index fingers but being much more mathematically inclined.
