ok, i have english windows XP pro, and i have a slight problem. when i installed some chinese software, there's this error box that pops up but i can't read it because its all in jibberish. is there any way i can view the message box? I tried NJ star but it doesn't work. Is there a way i can set windows to automatically display chinese when its needed?

As long as you install Far East Asian Language Support, it should display, so long as it is properly Windows 2000/XP compliant.

If you have not already installed it, it is under Regional Options in the Control Panel. You may also need to change the default system language to Chinese (although this does NOT change any of the existing dialogs from English to Chinese, so you need not worry about that).

If you are playing things like Taiwanese games and many other not fully compliant programs written in Chinese, you will not be able to see the dialogs unless you use the native Chinese version of Windows XP.

hm, alright. I think that's my problem. Is there anyway that i can sort of "patch" windows xp so that it displays chinese, or would i have to get a copy of chinese windows xp?

edit: yes, i do have east asian language support installed and the format set to chinese.

poop. is there a good xp-compliant viewer (such as NJstar)? NJstar isn't really that good. Unionway (asiansuite) also doesn't cut it.

NJStar (the latest version is 1.85) is XP compliant.

It's just that the programs you are trying to run are not XP compliant.
