Reading CD-Text from a CD

Last night, I downloaded a registry patch from Yamaha that allows my burner, the CRW8824SZ (SCSI 8x8x24), to write CD-Text with Adaptec's Easy CD Creator 4. So I burned a CD with the CD-Text information... now what program can I use to read the CD-Text off the CD? Windows Media Player shows the usual Track 1, Track2, etc. and Winamp looks at the online database CDDB. I just want to test my CD to see if the CD-Text is really on there.

Thanks.

Ah, Exact Audio Copy! I have that :Q (used the wrong face before) Thanks!

CD-Text is information such as Album Title, Artist, and Track names that can be stored on an audio CD, and read (very useful for CD jukeboxes, etc.).

Possum--if you have a store bought cd and are burning a backup of it, Nero will connect to a server, like www.cddb.com, bring back the cd-text info on the cd, and, give you the option to use it. From what I can figure, this "embeds" the info onto the .wav file. You can then rip individual files from the cd, or backup the complete cd. Either way, the info will stay with each file (song). I know Winamp will then read the text.

I never thought I would use cd-text, but, I find it hard to do without, now.

I don't know. Does Acraptec do this?

Can you get cd text "embedded" into custom cds you made with mp3's, or does this only work with cd tracks off origionals? Ive been trying to do this with no luck for weeks now.

You can use CD-Text for custom CDs if your CD writer supports writing CD-Text and if you're using software that will do it (e.g. Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 and Nero).

As Descend492 informed me, Exact Audio Copy will work. You can get it here:
(direct download link)
[L]http://studserver.uni-dortmund.de/~su0165/eac09pb7.zip[/L]

You'll have to go to Drive Options, under the EAC menu up top, then the Offset/Speed tab up top, and check off the CD-Text Read Capable Drive box at the bottom. Then you can go to the Database menu on the main screen and select "Get CD Information From" and choose "CD-TEXT".
